AIMIM-AJUP Alliance: Owaisi Says TMC Did Nothing Despite Securing Muslim Votes

Kolkata: Formally announcing an alliance with Humayun Kabir’s party—the Aam Janata Unnayan Party—on Wednesday, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi claimed that the people of West Bengal are feeling stifled, and his party is ready to offer them a new alternative. Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Owaisi stated, “The development of minorities in Bengal is a major issue, especially at a time when elections are scheduled to take place here next month.”

What did Owaisi say at the press conference?
The AIMIM chief alleged that the weaker sections of society in the state are being exploited, and that AIMIM and AJUP will work together to put an end to this. Owaisi remarked, “We are collaborating with Humayun Kabir to halt the exploitation of Bengal’s weaker sections and to provide the public with the alternative they have been seeking.”

Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that while the Trinamool Congress successfully garnered Muslim votes, it failed to undertake any substantive work for the Muslim community. Owaisi further asserted that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s brand of politics has inadvertently aided the Bharatiya Janata Party in making inroads within the state.

Owaisi stated, “Our alliance aims to prevent the exploitation of weaker sections in West Bengal and to empower them. Simultaneously, we will also strive to strengthen Muslim leadership.”

Owaisi reiterated that the development of minorities remains a critical issue in the state. When asked whether his party’s presence in the electoral arena would ultimately benefit the BJP, Owaisi responded, “In a democracy, people have the freedom to cast their votes for the party of their choice.”
