Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc retires from T20 International cricket

Cricket Australia officially confirmed his retirement. Mitchell Starc has also told why he decided to retire from T20 International cricket? Mitchell Starc told that he now wants to focus completely on ODI and Test cricket. In such a situation, he will not be active in the short format of international cricket. Mitchell Starc’s goal is to play the 2027 ODI World Cup.

The surprising thing is that Mitchell Starc has announced his retirement just a few months before the T20 World Cup 2026. 35-year-old Starc last played a T20 International match for Australia in the last T20 World Cup. Starc will now be seen playing in domestic T20 leagues apart from Test and ODI cricket. These include the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL. Mitchell Starc was the highest wicket-taker in T20 International cricket for Australia. Mitchell Starc took 79 wickets in this format. Ahead of him is Adam Zampa, who has taken 130 wickets.

The biggest highlight of this format for Mitchell Starc was the 2021 T20 World Cup, which was won by the Australian team. Starc said in his statement, “Test cricket has always been my top priority.
