Case filed against BJP leader for threatening to kill Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: A case has been filed against BJP leader Printu Mahadevan for issuing a “death threat” to Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. Mahadevan threatened Rahul Gandhi during a debate on a Kerala TV channel. The Peramangalam police have filed a case against Printu Mahadevan based on a complaint from Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary Srikumar C.C.

On September 26th, during a debate on the protests in Bangladesh and Nepal on a Malayalam channel, Printu Mahadevan made controversial remarks about Rahul Gandhi. He stated that such protests are impossible in India because the people here stand firmly with PM Modi. He also said that if Rahul Gandhi has such a desire, he would be shot in the chest.

This comment by the BJP leader has angered Congress workers. Today, Monday, protests were held across Kerala against Mahadevan and the BJP. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday regarding this matter. He appealed for immediate action against Mahadevan. Venugopal stated that if this is not done, it will be considered collusion.

Printhu Mahadevan is the former state president of the ABVP, the student wing of the RSS. He is currently a spokesperson for the Kerala BJP. He participated in that debate as a BJP spokesperson. Printhu Mahadevan was part of the debate on the Ladakh violence and the protests in Bangladesh and Nepal. During this, he made the comment threatening to kill Rahul Gandhi.
