New Delhi: The Delhi government is planning to soon launch inter-state government bus services to three major religious sites: Katra in Jammu & Kashmir (Mata Vaishno Devi), Khatu Shyam in Rajasthan, and Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Delhi’s Transport Minister, Pankaj Singh, shared this information on Monday.
The Minister stated that the Delhi government is committed to providing comfortable and affordable travel options to the public. Furthermore, efforts are being made to ensure the convenience of devotees by expanding bus services to key religious destinations. He announced that new bus services would be launched from Delhi to Katra (Vaishno Devi), Khatu Shyam, and Ayodhya. This will enable devotees from Delhi to visit these religious sites with ease and safety.
The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will soon deploy 50 air-conditioned buses across 17 new routes to strengthen inter-state connectivity. These buses will be eco-friendly and will offer excellent amenities to passengers. According to the Transport Minister, these services will operate based on benchmark rates established by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings.
Additionally, several other inter-state routes are also being introduced. These include routes such as Nanakser (Delhi)–Ghaziabad Bus Terminal, Delhi–Rewari, Delhi–Karnal, Delhi–Rohtak, Delhi–Alwar, and Delhi–Jewar. These routes are expected to prove highly beneficial for daily commuters.
Minister Pankaj Singh added that, keeping in mind the large Purvanchali population residing in Delhi, there are also plans to establish inter-state bus connectivity between Delhi and Bihar. An Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding this is expected to be signed shortly. This initiative will further strengthen connectivity between the two states.
It is worth noting that the DTC is already operating electric buses on several inter-state routes. These include routes such as Delhi–Baraut (Uttar Pradesh), Delhi–Sonipat (Haryana), Delhi–Dharuhera (Haryana), and Delhi–Panipat (Haryana).
