Earthquake again in Uttarkashi, tremors felt for the seventh time in 48 hours

New Delhi: Earthquake tremors were again felt in Uttarkashi on Saturday morning and evening. Last Friday also, strong tremors of earthquake were felt thrice. Earthquake tremors for the seventh time in 48 hours terrified people. According to the information, the earthquake tremor was felt at around 5:48 am. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 2.04. Its epicenter was in the forest area between village Khurkot and Bharangaon of Tehsil Dunda. At present, there is no information of loss of life or property from anywhere in the district.

The district administration says that the IMD said that the scale of the earthquake tremors has not been measured yet. Along with this, three tremors of earthquake have come around five o’clock, two of which were felt and one was not. Earthquake tremors were felt thrice in Uttarkashi on Friday. If we talk about the state this month, then there has been an earthquake in Bageshwar district as well. Last month too, earthquake tremors were felt in the state.

According to the National Center for Seismology, an earthquake occurred in Uttarkashi at 7:41 in the morning. Its intensity was 2.7 on the Richter scale, after some time at 8:19, another tremor was felt. This time the intensity was felt at 3.5 on the Richter scale. According to the local people, tremors were also felt at quarter to eleven. These tremors spread fear among the people. If we talk about this month, then an earthquake occurred in Bageshwar in the state on January 10 after 1 am, its intensity was 2.2.

Many earthquakes have occurred in the state last month as well. The National Center for Seismology has prepared a report on the earthquakes that occurred last month. It was told that in the month of December, 44 earthquakes occurred in the country. Of these, the maximum six occurred in Manipur and then five each in Uttarakhand and Assam.

Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman says that steps are also being taken in view of disaster. Work is being done on the early warning system to give prior information about the disaster. The district administration has sought an amount of five crores for the treatment of Varunavat mountain. It will be tested and released soon.
