“Even this much greed is not good”, Akhilesh’s taunt BJP on the treasure of the Banke Bihari Temple

Mathura: The treasure of Mathura’s world-famous Banke Bihari Temple was opened on Friday after 54 years. Both administrative officials and the temple’s sevayat Goswami were present during this operation, conducted under the direction of a high-powered committee. As soon as news of the temple’s treasure being opened spread, a huge crowd of devotees and locals gathered in the premises.

What was found in the room?
During the operation, which lasted about three hours, officials broke the seal of the treasure room and examined the items kept inside. Some silver utensils and vessels were found in the treasure, although no large gold ornaments or valuable items were recovered. Two baby snakes were also found in the room, which were safely captured by the forest department team. Now, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has targeted the state government over this.

Akhilesh Yadav wrote on the social media platform X, “A humble request to the BJP government…at least release the temple treasures…this greed is not good, it’s unfortunate!”

Regarding the treasure, Circle Officer Sadar Sandeep Kumar said, “The treasure of the Banke Bihari Temple was opened on the instructions of the High Power Committee. Some silver utensils were found during the three-hour operation. After the investigation was completed, the treasure was resealed.”

Temple Servants Express Dissatisfaction
Many Servants of the temple, Goswamis, expressed displeasure over this action. They said that this treasure is linked to the temple’s tradition, faith, and long-standing religious heritage. Opening it in this manner on administrative orders is not only inappropriate but also hurts the sentiments of the devotees.

During the operation, some Servants also raised slogans against the High Power Committee and the concerned officials. They said this step is against religious norms.

After the three-hour process, the treasure was resealed. Now in the next meeting of the High Power Committee, it will be decided when and under what circumstances the next layer of the treasure will be opened.
