Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and Wife Sent to Judicial Custody in Fraud Case

Mumbai: Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari were sent to seven days of police custody by a court in Udaipur on December 9 in an alleged Rs 30 crore fraud case. On Tuesday, the couple’s lawyer requested interim bail on medical grounds. However, the court denied them bail and sent them to judicial custody.


Lawyer’s Statement
Advocate Manzoor Hussain had told ANI before the court’s decision, “The accused’s lawyer has filed an application for interim bail, requesting bail on medical grounds. If interim bail is granted, both can be released for some time for medical treatment. However, everything depends on the court’s order.”

To be kept in Udaipur Central Jail
After the court’s decision, DSP Suryaveer Singh told the news agency, “The court has ordered them to be kept in judicial custody. Now they will be sent to Udaipur Central Jail.”

Rs 30 Crore Fraud Case
Vikram and his wife were arrested in Mumbai on December 7. After the arrest, the police took them to Udaipur, where they were produced in court the next day. On December 9, they were sent to seven days of police custody. Vikram, his wife, and six others are accused of defrauding Dr. Ajay Murdia, the founder of Udaipur’s Indira Group of Companies, of Rs 30 crore.
