Fire in Rohini slum caused havoc, sirens kept resonating till midnight

New Delhi. A case of a big fire has come to light from Delhi, where about 40 to 45 huts were burnt to ashes due to fire in Bengali settlement located in Shahbad Daulatpur near Rohini Sector-18 on Sunday (31 August) evening. As soon as the information of this incident was received, 10 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and after about one and a half hours of effort the fire was brought under control. The matter of relief is that there is no news of any casualty in this incident.

How did the fire spread and what was the effect?
According to the police, information about the fire was received at 7:01 pm. It is said that the fire engulfed the slums and the belongings of many families were burnt to ashes.

Local people tried to control the fire with initial efforts, but the flames spread rapidly. During this time people came out safely, so there was no loss of life.

Joint action of fire brigade and police
The Delhi Fire Brigade said that 10 fire engines and 10 ambulances were immediately deployed to extinguish the fire. The situation came under control at around 8.30 pm.

Police and administrative officials were also present on the spot and monitored the relief work. Officials said that temporary help and essential items are being provided to the affected people.

Investigation continues, cause not yet known
According to officials, the exact cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet. The police and fire department have started investigating the matter. At present, police force is deployed for security in the area and the damage is being assessed. The administration has appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumors and wait for the investigation report.
