New Delhi. India has once again cornered Pakistan on the issue of terrorism in the UN i.e. United Nations. It is reported that India has specifically referred to the statement of the neighbouring country’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, in which he is seen admitting to harboring terrorists. India says that this ‘confession’ is not surprising. After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the relations between the two countries are sour.
India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Yojna Patel, said, ‘The whole world has heard Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif admitting Pakistan’s history of supporting, funding and training terrorist organisations. No one is surprised by this confession and it shows Pakistan as a rogue nation, which is promoting terrorism globally and destabilizing the region. The world cannot turn a blind eye.’
What did Pakistan say
According to media reports, during an interview, Asif was asked, ‘Do you believe that Pakistan has a long history of funding and training these terrorist organizations.’ On this, Pakistan’s Defense Minister said, ‘We have been doing this dirty work for the West, including America and Britain, for 3 decades. … That was a mistake and we are suffering because of it…’
According to reports, during the interview itself, he also denied the existence of Lashkar-e-Taiba. He also said that he did not know about TRF i.e. The Resistance Front. He said, ‘Lashkar is an old name. It does not exist anymore.’
