New Delhi: India’s superstar batsman Virat Kohli has benefited in the latest ODI rankings of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He has returned to the top 5. Kohli scored his 51st ODI century while batting brilliantly against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai on Sunday (23 February). After this, he has moved up one place to fifth overall in the latest rankings of ODI batsmen.
In this way, three players from India have come in the top 5. In this, opener Shubman Gill (first) and captain Rohit Sharma (third) have maintained their dominance in the batting rankings due to their good performance in the Champions Trophy. Kuldeep is the number 3 ODI bowler. Gill has increased his lead at the top of the rankings to 47 rating points, while former Pakistan captain Babar Azam is still in second place.
However, his performance in the Champions Trophy has not been good so far. Kohli is the only player to make it to the top 10 in the list of ODI batsmen in the Champions Trophy, but many players have dropped out of the top 10 in the latest rankings updated by the ICC on Wednesday.
Will Young (up 8 places to 14th), Ben Duckett (up 27 places to 17th) and Rachin Ravindra (up 18 places to 24th) are among the biggest gainers in the tournament after scoring centuries, while India’s right-handed batsman KL Rahul (up two places to 15th) and South Africa’s fast bowler Rassie van der Dussen (up three places to 16th) have also made some gains. Sri Lankan spinner Mahish Theekshana remains at the top of the ODI bowlers’ rankings, with Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan still his closest rival in second place.
South African spinner Keshav Maharaj (up one place to fourth), New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry (up two places to sixth) and Australia’s experienced Adam Zampa (up two places to 10th) all managed to make it to the top 10 in the ODI bowlers’ list. While South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada (up four places to 16th) and New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell (up 31 places to 26th) are among the other bowlers who have made the biggest gains.
