US President Donald Trump said after meeting with Zelensky and European leaders at the White House that he is very happy with the possibility of peace between Russia and Ukraine and Zelensky and Putin will meet soon, for which arrangements are being made. He also said that after this there will be trilateral talks. At the same time, speaking about this proposed bilateral meeting, Zelensky said that we (Russia-Ukraine) should meet unconditionally and think about the way forward to end the war.

After the meeting ended at the White House, Trump gave information on social media and said that during the meeting held in the Oval Office, we discussed the security guarantees for Ukraine which will be provided by various European countries in coordination with the United States. Everyone is very happy about the possibility of peace for Russia-Ukraine.

Talked to Putin on phone: Trump
Trump further said, ‘After the high level meeting was over, I called Putin and arrangements have started for a meeting between President Putin and President Zelensky at a designated place. After this we will have a trilateral meeting, in which both the presidents and I will be involved.’

‘This is an initial step’
He also said that this was a very good, initial step to stop this war that has been going on for almost four years. In the end, he thanked Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, who are coordinating with Russia and Ukraine.

This high-level meeting held at the White House was attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finland President Alexander Stubb, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Meeting will be held within two weeks: German Chancellor
At the same time, the German Chancellor says that Trump wants to hold a Zelensky-Putin meeting within the next two weeks. According to the news agency report, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Trump agreed in his conversation with Putin that a meeting would be held between the Russian President and the Ukrainian President within the next two weeks.

He said that this meeting will take place at some place. There is no agreement about this yet. He said that he does not know yet what will come out of this meeting. Merz reiterated that it would be desirable and more than that that there should be a ceasefire in Ukraine along with this meeting. He further said, ‘President Zelensky said that it is difficult for him to imagine such a meeting with Putin without a ceasefire.’

‘Who will be in the security guarantee…’
He said that European and American countries will have to discuss who will participate in the security guarantee and to what extent. He said, ‘It is quite clear that the whole of Europe should participate in this. Because this is not just a matter of the territory of Ukraine. This is a matter of the political system of Europe.’

Meanwhile, Zelensky advocated an unconditional meeting with Putin, saying that I believe we should meet unconditionally. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia has proposed a bilateral meeting with Ukraine followed by a trilateral meeting.
