New Delhi: The United Nations (UN) General Assembly on Friday approved a resolution supporting the New York Manifesto for a peaceful solution to the Palestine problem. 142 countries, including India, voted in its support. According to the voting results displayed on the UN screen, the resolution was supported by 142 countries, 10 opposed it and 12 countries did not participate in the voting. India’s stand in this matter is to support the establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable Palestinian state, which can live peacefully with a secure Israeli state within recognized borders.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on X
Reflecting on the result, French President Emmanuel Macron wrote in a post on X, ‘Today, with the encouragement of France and Saudi Arabia, 142 countries have adopted the New York Declaration on the implementation of a two-state solution. Together we are charting an irreversible path towards peace in the Middle East.’
France, Saudi Arabia and all their allies will continue to support
He further said that France, Saudi Arabia and their allies will actively participate in the two-nation solution conference to be held in New York. Macron said that France, Saudi Arabia and all their allies will be present in New York to give concrete shape to this peace plan at the two-nation solution conference. Highlighting the vision of lasting peace, Macron further said that another future is possible.
Two peoples, two states: Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security. It is the responsibility of all of us to make this a reality. Emphasizing the next steps to further strengthen this momentum, Macron had informed a few days ago that France and Saudi Arabia will co-chair a high-level conference on a two-nation solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict in New York on September 22, aimed at mobilizing broad international support for peace and security in the region.
Macron made a special appeal to America
In addition, Macron called on the US to withdraw its decision to deny visas to Palestinian officials and called this move unacceptable. At the same time, he stressed the importance of Palestinian representation at the conference in accordance with the host country agreement. The French President said that I have just spoken to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
Together we will co-chair the conference on a two-nation solution in New York on September 22. The US decision to deny visas to Palestinian officials is unacceptable. We demand to withdraw this decision and ensure Palestinian representation in accordance with the host country agreement. Our objective is clear: to mobilize broad international support for a two-nation solution—the only way to meet the legitimate aspirations of both Israel and Palestine.
