Tehran. Iran claimed on Thursday that it has attacked a data center belonging to the U.S. multinational tech company, Oracle, in Dubai. Iran’s state media asserted that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted Oracle’s data center in Dubai. However, this claim could not be independently verified. News of this latest attack follows an earlier claim by the IRGC, in which it stated that it had targeted Amazon’s cloud computing center in Bahrain. These consecutive claims by Iran suggest that it is targeting infrastructure linked to American companies within the Gulf region—a course of action it had previously warned it would take.
On April 1, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a threat stating that it would target major U.S. tech and industrial companies. This list included the names of 18 companies, including Microsoft, Google, Apple, Intel, IBM, Tesla, and Boeing. The IRGC characterized this move as retaliation for attacks carried out against Iran’s critical infrastructure. However, the Dubai Media Office has dismissed Iran’s claim. The Dubai administration refuted the assertion made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) regarding the targeting of U.S. tech infrastructure in the Gulf region.
IRGC Had Issued Warning of Attack
In its statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared: “In retaliation for every terrorist act committed against Iran, the facilities of these companies will be destroyed, commencing at 8:00 PM Tehran time on April 1. American information technology and artificial intelligence companies will henceforth be considered legitimate targets.” According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC also issued a warning to the employees of these companies, urging them to immediately vacate their workplaces for their own safety. Responding to these threats from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a White House official stated that the United States is prepared to respond to any potential attack. The official remarked, “The U.S. military is fully prepared to deter any attack by Iran,” and added that following recent actions, there has been a significant decline in Iranian missile and drone attacks. Earlier on Thursday, a joint airstrike by the U.S. and Israel caused substantial damage to Iran’s B1 Bridge—which was under construction—located in Karaj.
This structure is one of the tallest bridges in West Asia. Following the airstrike, a section of the bridge was destroyed, resulting in the deaths of at least two civilians and injuries to several others. Iran’s state media described the incident as an attack by “American-Zionist” enemies. The bridge was part of a major highway connecting Iran’s capital, Tehran, to the western city of Karaj, and was currently under construction. Its completion was imminent.
