New Delhi. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has announced on X that the Yatra will resume from September 17, 2025. However, this decision will depend on weather conditions. The Board has appealed to devotees to keep their prayers only through official channels for updates. The Yatra was previously suspended on August 26, just before a major accident.
On August 26, at around 3 pm, heavy rains caused a massive landslide near the Indraprastha Restaurant near Adhkuwari. This location lies midway along the 12-kilometer trek from Katra to the temple. Following the accident, the Yatra was suspended for safety reasons.

Devotees had protested at the Katra base camp, demanding the resumption of the pilgrimage. Some pilgrims repeatedly attempted to break through the security cordon and proceed further, but the Shrine Board stopped them. The date was originally set for September 14th.
Rain and landslides caused massive devastation, with the Vaishno Devi to Chardham Yatra halted.
The Board had initially decided to resume the pilgrimage on September 14th, but heavy rains had to postpone it. Now, the Board has announced that if the weather permits, the pilgrimage will resume on September 17th.
Prasad distribution brings joy to devotees
Meanwhile, a few days ago, the Shrine Board distributed Prasad to devotees at the Banganga entrance. This move was welcomed by devotees and locals, who said that faith and sentiments were respected even during difficult times.
