Japan: PM Modi gets grand welcome in Tokyo, will lay foundation of future partnership in India-Japan summit today

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a visit to Japan on 29-30 August and China on 31 August-1 September. In Japan, he will meet his counterpart Shigeru Ishiba while he will attend the SCO summit in Tianjin, China. Apart from the summit, Modi will also have bilateral meetings with Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Japan and China. On Friday morning, he reached Tokyo’s Haneda Airport where he was welcomed. PM Modi will be in Japan on 29 and 30 August and after that he will go to China on 31 August and 1 September where he will participate in the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to be held in Tianjin city.

Apart from the SCO Summit, the Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, in Japan, PM Modi will hold summit talks with his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba.


PM Modi meets Indian community in Tokyo, shares photos

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was overwhelmed by the warmth and affection of the Indian community in Tokyo. He appreciated how Indian people are making important contributions to the society while living in Japan and at the same time cherishing their cultural roots. PM Modi further said that in a few hours he will meet with the business leaders of Japan, where there will be a discussion on strengthening India-Japan trade and investment relations.

Japan can announce 10 trillion yen (almost double) private investment in India for the next ten years during PM Modi’s visit. This will be a much bigger step than the target of 5 trillion yen set in 2022. Japan is a big supporter of Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Maruti Suzuki is now also starting to export electric vehicles from India. A major project like the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train is an example of the partnership between the two countries. Apart from this, India and Japan can agree to create a new economic security framework for semiconductors, rare minerals and clean energy supply, which will reduce India’s dependence on China.

The Indian expatriate community warmly welcomed Prime Minister Modi on his arrival in Japan. The people of the Japanese community welcomed PM Modi by reciting the Gayatri Mantra and other mantras. Japanese people dressed in Rajasthani dress sang Rajasthani folk songs to welcome the Prime Minister.

PM Modi welcomed at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport

PM Modi shared pictures of Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on Twitter and wrote that India and Japan are continuously strengthening their developmental cooperation and during this visit he is looking forward to meeting Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and other leaders. Modi expressed hope that this visit will further deepen the existing partnership between the two countries and open new opportunities for cooperation.
