Kochi: A serious incident involving the mistreatment of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has come to light in the Wandoor area of Keralam’s Malappuram district. While traveling to campaign for UDF candidate A.P. Anil Kumar, Shashi Tharoor’s vehicle was not only intercepted by unidentified assailants, but his security personnel were also physically assaulted. Acting swiftly in the matter, the police have taken two individuals into custody.
According to Tharoor’s team, the incident occurred while he was traveling in a two-vehicle convoy. Shashi Tharoor was seated in the lead vehicle. Suddenly, a group of approximately eight individuals, arriving in two cars, forcibly brought Tharoor’s vehicle to a halt in the middle of the road. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants blocked the vehicle’s path and began banging violently on its windows.
When Shashi Tharoor’s gunman, observing the deteriorating situation, attempted to intervene and clear the path, the miscreants attacked him as well. The gunman was subjected to pushing and scuffling, creating a highly tense atmosphere at the scene. The local police were informed immediately following the incident.
Currently, the police have registered a case and have taken two individuals into custody. It remains a subject of investigation whether this attack was premeditated or the result of a road-related dispute.
