MP: Main accused in syrup scandal returns to jail, produced in court after 10-day remand

Chhindwara: The main accused in the syrup scandal in Madhya Pradesh has been sent to jail. He was produced in court after 10 days of police remand. The court sent the accused behind bars. He was also seen waving his hand in front of media cameras.

In Chhindwara, 24 children died after consuming cold medicine. In this case, the police filed a case against the main accused, the pharmaceutical company owner Ranganathan, along with the prescriber, Dr. Praveen Soni, and three others. Four of the accused were arrested and sent to jail, but the pharmaceutical company owner Ranganathan was taken into 10-day remand by the police. After his remand ended on Monday, he was produced in the Parasia court, from where he was sent to jail.

The SIT team arrested the pharmaceutical company owner from Tamil Nadu and brought him to Chhindwara. He was produced in the Parasia court on October 10th, after which the police took him on 10-day remand. Speaking to the media, SDOP Jitendra Jat stated that the accused, Ranganathan, was taken on 10-day remand. During this period, he was interrogated, documents and other evidence were collected, and he was taken into police custody in the district jail.

He stated that regulations were not being followed at the manufacturing site, and based on this, he was taken into custody for investigation. He also stated that the police produced the accused in the Parasia court amid tight security, where Ranganathan was captured in photographs while leaving the court. The photographs show that Ranganathan, wearing a black T-shirt and a mask, is seen waving at the media cameras and then lowering his hands as he is being led out of the court.
