
New Delhi. The success of Operation Sindoor, launched by India to take action against terrorist and military bases in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) after the Pahalgam attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, will be the main attraction at the Red Fort in this year’s 79th Independence Day celebrations. According to the Ministry of Defense, Mi-17 helicopters will fly at the ceremony carrying the flag bearing the insignia of Operation Sindoor. The logo of the operation and the watermark of Chenab Bridge, the symbol of ‘New India’, are also printed on the invitation cards.
The Indian Army started this operation on the morning of May 7 and the action continued till the evening of May 10. 9 terrorist hideouts were demolished in Pakistan and PoK. At least 100 terrorists were killed in this operation. The Indian Air Force attacked 13 Pakistani airbases and military bases. The government has clearly stated that such strikes against terror are now the ‘new normal’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be welcomed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, CDS General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh. Delhi Area GOC Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar will take the PM to the saluting dais. Flying Officer Rashika Sharma will assist the PM, and a 21-gun salute will be given. For the first time, 11 Agniveer air musicians will be included in the Air Force band.
As soon as the national flag is hoisted, there will be a shower of flowers from two Mi-17 helicopters. One helicopter will carry the national flag, the other the flag of Operation Sindoor. Around 5,000 special guests will attend the ceremony. The Indian team of Special Olympics 2025, winners of international games, gold medalists of Khelo India Para Games, farmers trained and rewarded under various government schemes, best sarpanches and meritorious students have been invited. Apart from this, more than 1,500 people will come from various states and union territories in traditional attire.
