New Delhi: Pakistan is not showing any signs of improvement. On the occasion of Bakrid, it has once again raised the Kashmir issue. PAK Army Chief General Asim Munir on Saturday visited the forward posts on the Line of Control and met the soldiers deployed there. Munir congratulated his soldiers on Bakrid and interacted with them.
A statement issued by the Pakistani Army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said that General Munir praised the morale, combat readiness and vigilance of the soldiers. He told the soldiers that celebrating Eid away from their loved ones is a symbol of the fact that they consider national service paramount.
Claim of ‘befitting reply’ to India
According to the statement, General Munir referred to the recent clashes between his soldiers and claimed that Pakistan has given a ‘befitting reply’ to India. Munir’s remarks are believed to be in direct response to India’s recent military operations.
Old tune on Kashmir again
General Munir once again raised the Kashmir issue during his visit to the LoC. He reiterated Pakistan’s so-called ‘principled stance’ and vowed to continue supporting the Kashmiri people. According to geo.tv, Munir said that the just and courageous struggle of the Kashmiri people will never be forgotten. He stressed that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the people there and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
This is not the first time that Pakistan has raised the Kashmir issue on a religious or military occasion. In fact, Kashmir has become a permanent tool of Pakistan’s foreign policy. Especially when it has to face internal crises or international pressure.
