During the two-day visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations of Maldives as the chief guest. Prime Minister Modi is going to Maldives on the invitation of Maldives President Dr. Mohammad Moizzu. This will be the third visit of the Prime Minister to Maldives. This visit of PM Modi to Maldives will be the first visit of a foreign head of state after President Moizzu took power in Maldives. This visit is also important during the tenure of Mohammad Muizzu government because it is happening for the first time after the tension in the relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi’s last visit to Maldives was in June 2019
Indian community excited about the visit of the Prime Minister
The people of the Indian community living in Maldives are very excited about PM Modi’s visit. A person from the Indian community said that ‘PM Modi is coming here today and we are excited to welcome him. I have been living here for the last 24 years. For me, Maldives is like a second home.’

Let us tell you that earlier PM Modi was on a visit to Britain. Where in his presence, a comprehensive economic and trade agreement was signed between India and Britain. In Britain, PM Modi also met his British counterpart Keir Starmer and King Charles III.
