Patna: Before the Bihar elections, the pace of inauguration and foundation stone laying of development projects has increased. These also include projects related to road connectivity. One more name is going to be added to this list on June 23. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the first phase of the much-awaited six-lane Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur bridge project on June 23, i.e. today. This area will now be directly connected to the capital Patna.
The part of National Highway 31 to Raghopur is fully ready. Raghopur Assembly is the constituency of Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. Giving information in this regard, Bihar’s Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen has said that this is a historic day for the people of Raghopur Diara. People of this area used to reach Patna through pontoon bridge and boats for decades. He said that now the people of this area are going to get permanent road connectivity. After this bridge is operational, the distance from Raghopur to Patna will be just five minutes.
He said that this bridge has been constructed using a special technique in which the cables have been connected from one point to another under the deck in a special way. This increases its strength. Nitin Naveen said that after the commissioning of this bridge, the traffic pressure on Mahatma Gandhi Setu will also reduce. Fast and safe connectivity will be ensured between Patna, Raghopur and Bidupur.
Nitin Naveen also said that the government’s goal is to provide connectivity to every part of the state from the capital Patna in three and a half hours. This project will also prove to be an important step in achieving this goal. About five thousand crore rupees are being spent on this entire project, out of which two thousand crore rupees are being spent by the state government and three thousand crore rupees have been taken as a loan from the Asian Development Bank.
This project of about 19 kilometers long has a 9.76 kilometer long bridge. This extra dose cable stay bridge has been built on the river Ganga. Its width is 32 meters. The design of this bridge has been prepared keeping in mind the speed of hundred kilometers per hour. Only a few bridges have been constructed using this technology in the country. The government hopes that this project will open new avenues for trade, transport and investment in the region.
It is worth mentioning that till now, during the rainy season, when the Ganga river is in spate, the pontoon bridge was removed. Then Raghopur was cut off from Patna, but with the construction of this permanent bridge, the people of Diara will be able to get the facility of transportation throughout the year. The project of construction of a connecting road at a cost of Rs 17 crore to connect the main road (Pansaria Chowk) of Raghopur has also been approved.
