
Rohtak: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is serving sentence for the rape of two sadhvis and the murder of a journalist, has been granted parole for another 40 days. Ram Rahim is currently lodged in Rohtak’s Sunaria District Jail. During the parole period, he will reside at Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa, Haryana.
According to reports, Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s parole was approved yesterday evening. Following this, the jail administration has initiated the process for his release. During parole, Ram Rahim will have to abide by the conditions and will not be able to participate in any events outside the Sirsa Dera premises. His activities will be closely monitored by the administration.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been lodged in Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail since 2017. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping two sadhvis and was also convicted in the murder case of journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati. Since these cases, Ram Rahim has been released from jail on parole and furlough several times, sparking political and social controversy.
This time, he has been granted parole for 40 days. Previously, Ram Rahim was granted parole during election season. However, the administration stated that the parole was granted in accordance with the rules and legal procedures. Upon completion of the parole period, Gurmeet Ram Rahim will have to surrender to Sunaria Jail.
