New Delhi. Senior Congress leader K. Muralidharan made a big statement on Sunday saying that until Shashi Tharoor changes his stand on the issue related to national security, he will not be invited to any party program in Thiruvananthapuram.
According to the agency, Congress leader Muralidharan also made it clear that Shashi Tharoor is no longer ‘ours’. He said that Tharoor is definitely a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), but his recent statements and stance have raised questions on the internal unity of the party. He said that he is no longer with us, so there is no question of his boycott.
This statement came when the media questioned Muralidharan on Shashi Tharoor’s statement in which he said that ‘the country comes first and the party is a medium to make the country better.
What did Shashi Tharoor say?
During an event in Kochi, Shashi Tharoor had said that many people are criticizing him because he recently supported the armed forces and the central government on the developments related to the country and borders. Shashi Tharoor also said that I will stick to my stand because I think it is right in the interest of the country. He also added that when someone talks about cooperation with other parties in the interest of national security, then his own party feels like a betrayal, which becomes a big problem.
K. Muralidharan has targeted Tharoor earlier too
Let us tell you that K. Muralidharan has targeted Tharoor earlier as well, especially when Tharoor shared an opinion poll in which he was projected as the CM face of Kerala from the UDF (United Democratic Front). At that time Muralidharan had said that he should first decide which party he belongs to.
‘Tharoor should clarify his political path’
This controversy in the party increased further when Shashi Tharoor wrote an article in a Malayalam newspaper criticizing Indira Gandhi during the Emergency. Muralidharan also attacked Tharoor over this and said that if he is feeling uncomfortable within the Congress, then he should clarify his political path.
When did the confrontation start?
This confrontation between Shashi Tharoor and the Congress leadership increased further after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam due to his statements, which were considered to be deviating from the party line and due to which the party had to adopt a defensive posture. These developments indicate that there is a deep tussle going on within the Congress regarding ideology and leadership.
