Gandhinagar/Bengaluru: After Indore, the administration in several areas of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, has advised people to boil their water before drinking and maintain hygiene. It is reported that 104 suspected typhoid patients have been admitted to the civil hospital. Health checks revealed that the drinking water in the affected areas is unsafe, after which the municipal corporation started door-to-door surveys and distributing chlorine tablets. Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself is monitoring the situation. A team of 22 doctors has been deployed to treat the patients. The administration has advised people to boil their water before drinking and maintain cleanliness.

Meanwhile, in areas like Lingarajapuram and KSFC Layout in Bengaluru, ‘foamy and foul-smelling’ water is coming out of the taps. Hospitalized: More than 40 families in different private and government hospitals in Bengaluru have been admitted due to stomach infections and high fever.


  • 104 Patients Admitted, Including Children
    According to a report, a large number of typhoid cases have been reported in Gandhinagar. Officials said that 104 patients, including children, have been admitted to the hospital. The number of typhoid patients in the civil hospital has increased in the last 3 days. 104 patients have been admitted to the pediatric ward. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi himself reviewed the situation at the Gandhinagar Civil Hospital on Saturday.

    Team of 22 Doctors Formed
    Harsh Sanghavi said that senior officials, including the Deputy Collector, have been instructed to assess the situation at the hospital.     Meanwhile, Dr. Meeta Parikh, Medical Superintendent of the Civil Hospital, said that several people, including children, from Sector 24, 25, 26 and 28 of Gandhinagar, as well as the Adiwada area, have been admitted to the hospital. The condition of the people is stable. Water samples have been collected from these areas. The report revealed that the drinking water is not safe.

    Advice to boil water before drinking
    This is why the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation’s health department has started a door-to-door survey in the affected areas. People in the affected areas have been advised to boil water before drinking and to eat home-cooked food. The municipal corporation is emphasizing the cleaning of water tanks and is also distributing chlorine tablets.

It’s worth noting that the Indore Municipal Corporation brings water from the Narmada River in Jalood, a neighboring district of Khargone, over a distance of 80 kilometers to supply water to homes in Indore.
