To curb corruption, ₹500 and higher denomination notes need to be banned: Chandrababu Naidu appeals to Centre

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has urged for the ban of Rs 500 and higher denomination notes. He said that such a step will curb corruption and increase transparency in financial transactions. Addressing party workers at the Telugu Desam Party’s annual Mahanadu Sabha in YSR Kadapa district, Naidu advocated the ban of higher denomination notes like Rs 500, Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 and talked about promoting digital payments more. ‘Promote digital currency…’

Chief Minister Naidu said, “When I gave the report of digital currency to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I told him only one thing that there is a need to stop printing 500, 1000 and 2000 rupee notes. Promote digital currency. Then, if any corruption happens, we can easily trace it. This is what I suggest to him.”

Naidu on this occasion once again requested the central government to implement this recommendation. He said that the world is now rapidly moving towards digital currency.

Chandrababu Naidu said, “Today I want to request once again from this gathering that today is the era of digital currency. If someone had to donate for party activities, we had to see the list, but now workers and general public can donate only through QR code. There is no need to distribute 500, 1000 and 2000 rupee notes.”
Speaking about public support for the proposal, Naidu requested the supporters present on the spot to raise their hands and clap in favour of demonetization of big notes.
