Washington: US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he could meet Vladimir Putin very soon. He said that Putin really wants to end the Ukraine war. The US President’s statement came hours after Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio lowered hopes of upcoming high-level talks in Riyadh to end the Ukraine war. Responding to a question asked by reporters about meeting Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump said, ‘There is no time set, but I can meet Putin very soon.’

The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine will complete three years on February 24. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to lead a high-level US delegation in discussions with Russian officials on the issue of ending the Ukraine war in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, in the coming days. Addressing reporters, Trump said his team was talking with Russian officials, including his Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. President Trump said Steve Witkoff had recently met Russian President Vladimir Putin for about three hours.

Donald Trump said about Putin, ‘I think he wants to end the Ukraine war.’ Asked if he believed Putin wanted to occupy the whole of Ukraine, Trump said: ‘I had the same question for him.
