Jaiswal said in his press conference, “We have received an invitation from the United States to join the Peace Board. We are currently considering this proposal. As you know, India has consistently supported efforts to promote peace, stability, and dialogue in West Asia. Our Prime Minister has welcomed this initiative, which paves the way towards long-term and sustainable peace in the region, including Gaza.” The Board’s first meeting will be held in Washington on February 19th to discuss Gaza’s reconstruction.

    Trump Establishes Peace Board
Last month (January 22nd), US President Trump launched the Peace Board. Fourteen countries, including Pakistan, signed the Board of Peace’s charter during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Its purpose is to oversee lasting peace, reconstruction, and transitional governance in the Gaza Strip. However, it was later expanded to include a mediator role in resolving global conflicts, not just Gaza, and a body chaired by the United States itself.

According to media reports, the US has invited approximately 60 countries to join the board. Approximately 27 countries, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UAE, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, have agreed to join the initiative. However, several Western democracies, including France, Germany, the UK, and Spain, have opted not to participate.
