Congress suspends Navjot Kaur Sidhu, action taken over 500 crore statement

New Delhi: Punjab Congress has taken major action against Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, suspending her from the party’s primary membership. Sidhu leveled serious allegations against former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, and Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa. She also accused senior Congress leaders of selling tickets. She said that these leaders’ personal desires and closed-door politics have pushed Punjab towards ruin.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Saturday. Responding to questions from reporters, she said that she would only become active if the Congress made Sidhu its chief ministerial candidate, otherwise he was making a lot of money on TV. He said that while Sidhu is associated with the Congress and is connected to Priyanka Gandhi, he is not confident that the opposition will allow him to remain there, as the Congress already has five chief ministerial candidates and is focused on defeating the Congress.

Punjab Congress President and Ludhiana Congress MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring posted information about the action taken against Navjot Kaur on his social media handle, X. He also shared the letter stating that Navjot Kaur’s primary membership is temporarily suspended.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu has been continuously making statements against the party’s Punjab leaders and has made allegations, including offering the Chief Minister’s post for ₹500 crore (500 crore rupees), without naming the Congress party. Speaking to the media today, Navjot Kaur Sidhu accused Punjab Congress leaders, including Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Pratap Singh Bajwa, of collusion with each other in Rajasthan to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and also accused Amarinder Singh Raja Warring of accepting ₹5 crore (500 crore rupees) during the councilor elections.
