MP: ‘Gamini’ gave birth to four cubs, not three, in Kuno; the cheetah population in India now stands at 39.

Sheopur. The success story of ‘Project Cheetah’ in Kuno National Park has now become even more glorious. Gamini, the female cheetah who gave birth to cubs 10 days ago, has now officially been confirmed to have four cubs, not three. Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav himself shared this information on social media.

In fact, when Gamini gave birth on February 18th, monitoring revealed the presence of three cubs. While Kuno’s field staff and veterinarians were continuously monitoring Gamini and her cubs, a fourth cub was detected among the bushes. All four cubs are completely healthy and developing normally.

New Scorecard
The confirmation of Gamini’s fourth cub has significantly strengthened India’s cheetah population. The total number of cubs born in India has reached 28, bringing the total number of cheetahs to 39. This is Gamini’s second birth, giving new impetus to the project.

Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav described this achievement as a result of India’s commitment to the scientific management and conservation of ‘Project Cheetah’.

He praised the field staff and team of doctors, saying that each new birth strengthens this ambitious project globally.
