Know When and Where the Attack Took Place
On April 22, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire upon tourists in the Baisaran Valley—a popular tourist destination in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident resulted in the deaths of 26 people. It is reported that the terrorists arrived dressed in army uniforms. Eyewitnesses who survived the attack recounted that the terrorists first asked the tourists about their religion and checked their identity cards; then, upon identifying them as Hindus, they opened fire.
The majority of the 26 victims were tourists. This marked the largest terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pulwama attack in February 2019. Eyewitnesses stated that the terrorists initially surveyed the area around the food stalls before unleashing indiscriminate gunfire upon the people seated there and the tourists enjoying pony rides. After carrying out the attack, the terrorists fled the scene. Subsequently, security and investigative agencies made significant revelations regarding the terrorists’ escape route and their whereabouts.
