11 Snakes in the Home Water Tank! Family Left Stunned as They Emerge One by One

May 12, 2026

Kota: Panic ensued on Monday morning in the Awali area of Kota, Rajasthan, after 11 snakes emerged simultaneously from a water tank located inside a residential home. While cleaning the tank—which was situated within a room and was approximately 8 feet deep—family members noticed movement in the water. Upon shining a flashlight into the tank, they spotted several snakes swimming inside. The sight of the snakes triggered chaos and panic throughout the house. The family members immediately alerted Rocky Daniel, a rescuer from the municipal corporation. Upon receiving the information, Rocky rushed to the scene with his colleague, Jitendra Koli, and initiated a rescue operation.

  • Rescue Operation Lasted 20 Minutes
Rocky Daniel explained that the water tank located inside the room had not been cleaned for a considerable period. Around 11:30 AM, while the family members were emptying and cleaning the tank, the snakes became visible in the water. Subsequently, the rescue team climbed down into the tank and extracted all the snakes, one by one.

After an effort lasting approximately 20 minutes, all 11 snakes were safely rescued. Each of the snakes measured roughly one foot in length. Following the rescue, all the snakes were safely released along the banks of the Chambal River. According to Rocky, these were ‘Checkered Keelback’ water snakes—a non-venomous species typically found in the vicinity of water bodies.

    Snake Sighting Reported Previously
The homeowner revealed that a snake had also been spotted on the house’s staircase just two or three days prior. It is suspected that the offspring of that very snake may have fallen into the water tank. The family remained shaken for quite some time following the incident, though they breathed a sigh of relief once all the snakes had been safely removed.
