Flight Operations Set to Begin at Noida’s Jewar Airport; Schedule for First Flight Announced

June 14, 2026

Noida: Commercial flight operations at Noida International Airport (Jewar) are set to commence on June 15. Officials stated that the domestic airline ‘IndiGo’ will be the first to launch services from the new airport. IndiGo’s inaugural flight will depart from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow at 7:05 AM on June 15 and arrive at Noida International Airport at 8:05 AM. Subsequently, the first regular commercial flight from the airport will operate to Bengaluru.

Located within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, this airport is a flagship infrastructure project of the Uttar Pradesh government. Officials state that the airport’s development will further strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a major aviation, logistics, and connectivity hub in the country. Construction of the airport’s first phase is complete, featuring an annual passenger handling capacity of 12 million (1.2 crore) passengers.

  • Completion of the Airport’s First Phase
The first phase of Noida International Airport includes the construction of a runway, an integrated terminal building, and an air traffic control tower. The airport received its aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on March 6, 2026. Spanning approximately 1,334 hectares, the project is designed to be completed in four phases. With the completion of each phase, Noida Airport’s annual passenger handling capacity is projected to reach 30 million by 2031, 50 million by 2036, and 70 million by 2040.

Officials stated that upon the completion of all four phases, Noida International Airport will feature five runways, and its total annual passenger handling capacity will reach 225 million. This will place it among the largest airports in the world. The airport will provide enhanced facilities for travelers from Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.

IndiGo to connect over 16 cities
IndiGo Airlines plans to connect this airport in a phased manner to more than 16 cities, including Lucknow, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Srinagar, and Pantnagar. The first phase of the Noida Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year. The Uttar Pradesh government estimates that this project will generate approximately one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities. Additionally, it is expected to attract large-scale investment across sectors such as industry, logistics, warehousing, hospitality, and other allied fields.
