DU Warns Students and Teachers of Action Over Protests

New Delhi: Delhi University has appealed to students and teachers to stay away from the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar. The university stated that participating in any unlawful gathering or demonstration there could lead to legal action. Such involvement could also impact students’ studies and future careers. In its advisory, DU emphasized that the safety of students and teachers is paramount; therefore, everyone has been urged to abide by the law and avoid prohibited or illegal demonstrations at Jantar Mantar.

The university warned that participating in such gatherings could endanger students’ personal safety and significantly affect their academic progress and professional opportunities. It further urged all students to stay away from Jantar Mantar and prioritize their safety and compliance with the law.

Misinformation Spreading on Social Media
The university advised students not to rely on rumors and misinformation circulating on social media, noting that some individuals are attempting to disrupt the atmosphere by spreading fake and misleading posts. Meanwhile, the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ has announced nationwide peaceful protests for Friday to oppose the alleged police action during recent demonstrations. The party has appealed to its supporters, student organizations, and social groups to join the protest.

When Did This Movement Begin?
The movement, which began at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 20, has escalated into a major political confrontation following clashes between protesters and the police earlier this week. The organization remains adamant that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must resign. Meanwhile, the Centre has intensified efforts to break the deadlock; Union Health Minister JP Nadda reiterated the government’s readiness for dialogue, and Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that four formal proposals for discussion have been sent to the leadership of the main judicial council.
