AI won’t lead to job losses… Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian’s big statement

October 12, 2025

New Delhi: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology that helps employees, not eliminates them, according to Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian. He stated that the purpose of AI is to assist workers in their work and increase their productivity, not to fire them. Previously, Google CEO Sundar Pichai also expressed his opinion on AI. He stated that AI has made Google engineers 10% more productive.

Thomas Kurian cited Google’s AI-powered customer engagement suite as an example, arguing that this technology hasn’t prompted any clients to lay off employees. Rather, the platform helps service teams respond to queries faster, improving the customer experience. Kurian said that when this technology was first launched, people feared that it could jeopardize employees’ jobs, but that hasn’t happened.

Technology leaders like Kurien and Google CEO Sundar Pichai consider AI a productivity-enhancing tool. Sundar Pichai recently stated that AI has increased the productivity of Google engineers by 10 percent, allowing them to focus on more creative and important tasks. He stated that AI helps employees stay afloat in a competitive environment and adapt to rapid change, not drive them out of employment.
