New Delhi: Bollywood and fans’ favorite singer Arijit Singh has retired from playback singing. Arijit’s playback singing era has come to an abrupt and shocking end. This comes at a time when his fans were enjoying the singer’s three chartbuster songs – ‘Gehra Hua’, ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’, and ‘Matrubhumi’. This news has left the entire industry emotional. Fans are also extremely upset. Everyone wants to know why Arijit took this decision?
Why did Arijit quit playback singing?
This year, Arijit Singh had several projects lined up. But now he is not signing any new projects. He himself made this official announcement through social media. First, Arijit shared a post on his private X account, and then on Instagram, in which he announced that he would no longer be doing playback singing. Later, in a new tweet, Arijit Singh explained the reason behind this sudden decision.
Arijit’s tweet explained the reason for ending his playback singing career. He wrote on his private X (formerly Twitter) account, “There isn’t one single reason behind this, there are many reasons, and I have been trying to do this for a long time. Finally, I gathered the courage. One reason is simple – I get bored easily. That’s why I perform the same songs on stage with different arrangements. So, the point is, I got bored. I need to do some other kind of music to survive. Another reason is that I want to get real motivation by seeing a new singer emerge.”
Fans shocked by the singer’s announcement
Announcing his retirement, Arijit Singh wrote, “Hello, Happy New Year to everyone. I want to thank you all for the love you have given me over the years. You all have given me so much love as listeners.” I am happy to announce that I will no longer be taking on any new assignments as a playback vocalist. I am bringing this chapter to a close. It has been a wonderful journey.
He further wrote, “God has been very kind to me. I am a fan of good music and will learn more and do more as a humble artist in the future. Thank you again to everyone for your support. I still have some pending commitments to fulfill, and I will complete them. So you might see some releases this year. To be clear, I am not quitting making music.”
With this, the song ‘Matrubhumi’ from Salman Khan’s film ‘Battle of Galwan’ has become Arijit Singh’s last song as a playback singer. Details of his future projects have not yet been made public. He will continue to perform in live shows and concerts, and will also pursue independent music production.
