New Delhi: Top para commandos of the Army on Monday killed the alleged mastermind of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and his two companions in the forests on the outskirts of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, which is being seen as a major achievement. Officials said that Suleman alias Asif, believed to be the mastermind of the 22 April Pahalgam attack, was killed on Monday when security forces launched an operation after receiving a technical signal.
They said that this technical signal was pointing to the use of a satellite phone, which was also used by the culprits of the Pahalgam attack. According to officials, the other terrorists killed in the army action have been identified as Jibran (who was allegedly involved in the Sonamarg tunnel attack last year) and Hamza Afghani. The operation was codenamed ‘Operation Mahadev’.
Suleman’s death is being described as a major victory in the direction of weakening the terror network in the Jammu Kashmir valley. After this operation, security has been tightened in the area and the search operation is still going on. Operation Mahadev is being described as the most accurate and successful operation till date, due to which the attempts to spread terror in the valley have failed miserably.
Let us tell you that on April 22, terrorists shot dead 26 people in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam. Most of the dead were tourists. After this, the armed forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7 against the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and its occupied Kashmir.
