
Patna: The path is clear for Nitish Kumar to be sworn in as Chief Minister for the 10th time. He will first be elected leader of the JDU Legislature Party on Wednesday. Then, after the BJP Legislature Party meeting, he will be elected leader of the NDA Legislature Party on the same day. Meanwhile, a three-hour marathon meeting between JDU Working President Sanjay Jha and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan, also known as Lallan Singh, with Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday also resulted in a consensus on the division of portfolios.
The post of Assembly Speaker will remain with the BJP. The name of Prem Kumar, the senior-most BJP MLA, is being discussed for this position. Home Minister Amit Shah will also be present at the NDA Legislature Party meeting called to elect Nitish Kumar as leader. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Gandhi Maidan on Thursday afternoon. Prime Minister Modi, leaders of all NDA allies, and senior leaders from all parties, including Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states, will be present at the ceremony.
Nitish reviews preparations
Amidst the new power dynamics in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Gandhi Maidan to review preparations for the swearing-in ceremony. The ceremony, scheduled for November 20th, is considered politically significant, as Nitish Kumar is set to assume power for the 10th time. Amidst the formation of the new government and the NDA’s strong strategic position, preparations are underway to make the ceremony a grand affair. The Chief Minister reviewed the stage construction, VVIP seating arrangements, security cordon, guest routing, and crowd management, and issued necessary instructions to officials.
BJP-JDU to have equal participation in the cabinet
According to JDU sources, the BJP and JDU will have equal participation in the new government. Both parties will likely receive 14 seats each, the LJP three, and the LJP and RLM one each. As before, the BJP will have two deputy chief ministers in the government. Women will receive a historic share in the cabinet.
Maurya appointed as central observer The BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed UP government’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya as the central observer, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and former Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti as co-observers for the meeting to be held on Wednesday for the election of the leader of the legislative party.
