BJP to Stage Nationwide Protests Tomorrow Over Defeat of Women’s Reservation Bill

April 17, 2026

New Delhi: A fierce political battle centered on ‘Nari Shakti’ (Women’s Power) has once again erupted in the country’s political landscape. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has adopted a strong stance following the failure to pass the crucial Constitutional Amendment Bill (known as the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’)—which sought to provide women’s reservation—in the Lok Sabha. Consequently, the BJP has decided to launch large-scale protests against the opposition across the entire country, commencing tomorrow.

To give impetus to this protest campaign, a pivotal meeting was held under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah. Several prominent leaders attended this meeting, including BJP National President JP Nadda, National Vice President Nitin Nabin, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. According to sources, the discussion focused on strategies to take this issue to the masses and thereby expose the Congress party and its allies. A truly bizarre scene unfolded in the Lok Sabha today.

  • The Congress, TMC, DMK, and the Samajwadi Party prevented the passage of the Constitutional Amendment Bill required for the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.’ The act of defeating a bill aimed at granting 33% reservation to women—and subsequently celebrating and raising victory slogans over its failure—is truly reprehensible and defies imagination.

Amit Shah Lashes Out at the Opposition
Following the defeat of the bill in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his deep displeasure. Through social media and his public statements, he asserted that the Congress, TMC, DMK, and the Samajwadi Party had obstructed the passage of this vital legislation. Terming the unfolding events as “bizarre and condemnable,” he stated that blocking the 33% reservation intended for women—and subsequently celebrating that obstruction—constitutes a grave insult to half of the country’s population.

Consequences to be Faced in the 2029 Elections
Issuing a stern warning, Amit Shah declared that this victory for the opposition is merely momentary. He stated, “This insult to ‘Nari Shakti’ will have far-reaching repercussions. The opposition will have to face the wrath of women—not only in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections but in every subsequent election and at every level of governance.”

NDA Allies to Join the Protests
All constituent parties of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are also set to join this nationwide agitation spearheaded by the BJP. The BJP alleges that the Congress has repeatedly acted against the interests of women, and that this time, too, it has repeated its past history. Through this protest—which begins tomorrow—the BJP will inform women across the country how their rights have been snatched away by the Opposition in Parliament.
