CJP Funding Under Scanner? RTI Activist Seeks Probe Into Abhijeet Dipke’s Family Assets, ₹1 Crore Legal Fund

New Delhi: Fresh questions have been raised over the funding of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and the financial background of its founder, Abhijeet Dipke. Surat-based RTI activist Amit Tiwari has written to the Election Commission and Central tax authorities, seeking an investigation into the party’s funding sources, the recently announced Legal Defense Fund, and the financial status of Dipke’s family.

In his representation, Tiwari has called for a detailed inquiry into the transparency of funds being collected for the legal assistance of CJP activists. He has also sought scrutiny of the financial background of Abhijeet Dipke’s father, Bhagwanrao Dipke, a retired Maharashtra government employee.

Questions Over Foreign Education Expenses

The RTI activist has questioned how a retired government employee was able to finance his son’s higher education abroad. He has urged the concerned agencies to verify the facts and examine whether the financial sources were in accordance with applicable laws.

Election Commission Asked to Verify CJP’s Legal Status

Tiwari has also urged the Election Commission to clarify the legal status of the Cockroach Janata Party. According to him, if the organization is functioning as a political party and collecting funds under its name, it should be verified whether it is registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. If it is not registered, he has demanded an investigation into its political activities and fundraising operations.

Probe Sought Into ₹1 Crore Legal Defense Fund

In a separate representation to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), the RTI activist has sought a tax-related examination of the ₹1 crore Legal Defense Fund announced by senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal. He has requested authorities to verify whether all applicable tax provisions have been complied with in relation to the declared contribution.

Kapil Sibal had earlier announced a ₹1 crore contribution to provide legal assistance to CJP protesters arrested in connection with the alleged NEET paper leak case. As of now, neither the Election Commission, CBIC, Kapil Sibal, nor the CJP has issued an official response to the allegations and demands made by the RTI activist.
