CM Mohan Yadav Takes Major Action During Surprise Visit to Sidhi: Collector Removed; SP Also Penalized in Hawala Case

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has adopted a strict stance regarding administrative accountability in Madhya Pradesh. Following complaints received and a subsequent review conducted during an unscheduled visit to the Sidhi district, the Chief Minister has taken high-level action, issuing directives to remove Collector Swarochit Somvanshi from his post with immediate effect. Additionally, orders have been issued to suspend P.S. Dhanwal, the General Manager of the District Cooperative Bank.

The Chief Minister arrived in Sidhi for a surprise visit on Sunday. He toured the district headquarters and engaged in direct dialogue with the general public and elected representatives. Speaking to the media, he stated that he had received numerous complaints. He emphasized that officials working in the field must discharge their duties with a strong sense of accountability; responsibility is inherent in their appointment. He remarked that if complaints persist, such officials should perhaps sit and work from Vallabh Bhavan (the State Secretariat) rather than remaining in the field.

During the review session, the CM expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the district administration and the concerned departments. Given the gravity of the complaints, the Chief Minister ordered immediate action and directed that strict measures be taken against the officials deemed responsible. He also gave indications that the results of these actions would become apparent by the end of the night.

SP Soni Penalized in Guna Over Hawala Cash Deal

Meanwhile, a major decision has also been taken regarding a recently surfaced case involving cash transactions and alleged irregularities in the Guna district. Deeming the role of Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Soni in this matter to be unsatisfactory, the Chief Minister has issued orders for his removal as well, effective immediately. This case reportedly involves an incident where cash exceeding ₹1 crore—discovered during a routine vehicle check on the highway—was allegedly released in exchange for a deal involving ₹20 lakh.

Negligence Will Not Be Tolerated

This firm stance adopted by the government is being viewed as a significant step toward ensuring transparency and accountability within the administrative system. The Chief Minister has sent a clear signal that neither negligence nor irregularities of any kind will be tolerated at any level.
