New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing conflicts in West Asia—specifically between Iran and Israel—and the war between Russia and Ukraine in Europe, the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has delivered a significant message regarding peace. Furthermore, he has extended his support to the appeal for peace made by the Pope on the occasion of Palm Sunday. The Dalai Lama stated that this call to lay down arms and completely renounce violence resonated deeply with his own convictions.
The Dalai Lama emphasized that the fundamental teachings of all the world’s major religions are essentially the same. Whether it be Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, or Judaism, all great spiritual traditions teach us the lessons of love and compassion. In all these religions, tolerance and self-discipline are accorded the highest priority. There is no place for violence within the true teachings of any religion.
He observed that history has repeatedly demonstrated that violence invariably begets further violence. Violence can never serve as the foundation for lasting peace. The Dalai Lama expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflicts in West Asia and between Russia and Ukraine. He asserted that these disputes can only be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect.
He stated, “We are all brothers and sisters to one another. We must move forward with this understanding.” In conclusion, the Dalai Lama offered a prayer that the violence and wars currently plaguing the world would come to an end as soon as possible. He urged everyone to walk the path of peace.
