
New Delhi: The flood crisis is deepening in the national capital Delhi. The Yamuna Bazaar area, located on the banks of the Yamuna river, is facing flood conditions. As soon as the water level of the Yamuna river increased on Monday evening, water started entering the colony of Yamuna Bazaar area.
In a few hours, the situation worsened so much that the houses of Yamuna Bazaar colony were flooded and people left their homes and reached the roofs. Amidst the flood situation, some people are taking their household items to the roof, while some people are taking their belongings to the camp.
Let us tell you that recently during heavy monsoon rains, flood-like conditions were created in the Yamuna Bazaar area, so tents were set up by the Delhi government on the side of the main road.
Danger of flood in Delhi due to water from Hathnikund Barrage
Lakhs of cusecs of water is being released every hour from Haryana’s Hathnikund Barrage. Due to which the danger of flood is continuously increasing in Delhi. Till Monday night, 3.29 lakh cusecs of water has been released. After which the Delhi government has increased vigilance regarding floods in the low-lying areas.
Today (Tuesday), on September 2, at 6 am, the water level of Yamuna has been recorded at 205.68m. Let us tell you that the danger mark in Yamuna is 205.33m. The water level of Yamuna is expected to reach 206.50m by 5 pm.
Delhi’s old railway bridge closed for traffic from today
After the water level of Yamuna river crossed the danger mark, the Delhi government has banned traffic and movement of the general public on the Old Railway Bridge.
