Final Salute to Khamenei: Major Funeral Events Scheduled in Tehran for July 4–5

New Delhi: Iran has released the dates and full schedule for the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Officials stated that a farewell ceremony, funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Janaza), and a procession will be held in Tehran on July 4 and 5. The Iranian government has referred to Khamenei as the “Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.” The Iranian government has disclosed full details regarding the funeral of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Officials stated that the nation is prepared to bid a final farewell to its “Martyred Leader,” with two major events planned for the occasion.

The first event will be a farewell ceremony and funeral prayer service for the general public. This will take place at the Imam Khamenei Grand Prayer Grounds in Tehran, where people will be able to pay their respects to Khamenei’s mortal remains and prayers will be offered. The second event will be a procession. This procession will be held at a separate location; in other words, the farewell ceremony and the procession will take place at different venues.


  • Officials have also provided clear details regarding the timing. The farewell ceremony for the public will begin at 6:00 AM (local time) on July 4, at which time the prayer grounds will be opened to the public. It has been explicitly stated that no one will be permitted to enter prior to this time. The funeral prayers are scheduled for the morning of July 5. Additionally, the farewell ceremony will continue throughout the day, lasting until 8:00 PM, ensuring that the public has ample time to pay their respects.

    The Iranian government has made preparations to organize these events on a grand scale. Officials confirmed that all logistical arrangements for the occasion have been finalized, with careful attention paid to public services and the convenience of the general public. Strict security arrangements have also been put in place. As a large number of people from within the country and abroad are expected to attend such a massive ceremony, the administration has prioritized security arrangements. Overall, Iran has planned an extensive two-day program to bid a final farewell to its Supreme Leader. The proceedings will conclude with the farewell ceremony and prayers on July 4, followed by the funeral prayer on July 5.
