
Kurnool. A major road accident has occurred near Chilakaladona in the Mantralayam Mandal of Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. At least eight people lost their lives in this tragedy. The accident took place when a vehicle collided with a lorry. According to Kurnool police officials, five victims died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Approximately 10 to 12 people were injured in this accident. Officials stated that the injured were immediately rushed to Emmiganur Hospital for medical treatment. The police further informed that the deceased have been identified as pilgrims hailing from the Chikkamagaluru region of Karnataka.
The accident was so severe that several passengers became trapped inside the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. According to officials, five victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while three others passed away during treatment at a nearby hospital. Officials noted that the injured were immediately transported to Emmiganur Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical care.
Passengers Were Returning from Pilgrimage
The police stated that the victims of the accident were pilgrims from Karnataka who had visited the Mantralayam temple; the accident occurred while they were on their return journey. Upon receiving information about the collision, police teams immediately rushed to the accident site and initiated rescue and relief operations. According to officials, efforts were undertaken to extricate the injured passengers and clear the debris from the scene.
Accident Also Reported in Fatehgarh Sahib
A case has been registered in connection with this incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact causes of the accident. Officials indicated that further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses and more information regarding the circumstances of the collision comes to light. This incident occurred shortly after a bus accident in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, in which six pilgrims lost their lives.
According to officials, at least six people were killed and approximately 20 others were injured on Tuesday in Fatehgarh Sahib when a bus carrying devotees overturned while returning from Anandpur Sahib. The injured included women and children. They were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment. The bus was carrying around 40 passengers and was returning from Anandpur Sahib in the Ropar district—after the devotees had paid their obeisance on the occasion of Baisakhi—when it developed a technical snag.
