‘Lured with ₹12 lakh to convert…’ Zubair entrapped her by posing as ‘Karan’; victim recounts her ordeal

Lucknow: A shocking case has come to light in the Para police station area of ​​Lucknow. A young woman has leveled serious allegations against a man. The victim claims that the man entrapped her in a romantic relationship by concealing his true identity and religion; he exploited her for a long time under the pretext of marriage and, during this period, misappropriated her money and jewelry.

The victim states that she met Zubair, a resident of Alambagh, about a year and a half ago. He had identified himself as ‘Karan’ and claimed to be a Hindu. The accused first befriended her and then lured her into a relationship with promises of marriage. During this time, he took her to various locations, drugged her, and raped her. It is alleged that he also recorded objectionable videos and continued to sexually exploit her.

When the woman began pressuring him for marriage, she discovered through her own inquiries that ‘Karan’s’ real name was Zubair. Following this, the accused started avoiding marriage. The woman alleges that the accused took cash and jewelry from her—citing business investments and other needs—but never returned them.

The victim alleges that when she insisted on marriage, the accused and his family members began pressuring her to convert her religion. She was forced to wear a burqa and was offered an inducement of ₹12 lakh to convert. When she resisted, she was assaulted and threatened with death; she was also threatened that the compromising videos would be made viral.

According to the police, a case has been registered against Zubair and his family members under various sections based on the victim’s complaint. A medical examination of the woman is being conducted, and the process of recording her statement before a magistrate has been initiated. The police state that all aspects of the case are being investigated, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused.
