MP: Car runs over 13 laborers eating lunch, 2 dead, 11 injured

Jabalpur: In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, a speeding car hit 13 laborers on Sunday, killing two and injuring 11. The condition of the injured remains serious. A senior police officer said the incident occurred around 2 pm near Ekta Chowk in front of Sigma Colony, within the limits of Barela police station, while the laborers were having lunch.

Additional Superintendent of Police Pallavi Shukla said that all the laborers involved in the accident were working on installing road divider railings. They were taking a break from work to eat lunch when a speeding car ran them over.

Car had no license plate
ASP Shukla said, “Efforts are being made to apprehend the absconding car driver. The victims are residents of Mandla district. Two of them have died and 11 are hospitalized with injuries. All the injured have been admitted to Jabalpur Medical College. The bodies of the deceased are also kept at the same hospital. The condition of one of the injured remains critical.” Another officer said that the car did not have a registration plate.
