Nitish cabinet expanded, 7 BJP MLAs took oath as ministers

February 26, 2025

New Delhi: Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar this year. Before this, Nitish cabinet has been expanded. 7 BJP MLAs took oath as ministers today at Raj Bhavan. Among those who took oath are Darbhanga MLA Sanjay Saraogi, Biharsharif MLA Sunil Kumar, Jale MLA Jivesh Mishra, Sahebganj MLA Raju Kumar Singh, Riga MLA Moti Lal Prasad, Vijay Kumar Mandal and Krishna Kumar Mantu. Jivesh Mishra and Sanjay Saraogi reached Raj Bhavan wearing Mithila paag to take oath as ministers.

At present, there are 30 ministers in the Bihar government. This includes Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and 2 Deputy CMs. There can be a maximum of 36 ministers in the cabinet. Before the cabinet expansion, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal has resigned from the post of minister. In this way, now 7 ministerial posts are vacant.

Sunil Kumar, a doctor by profession, joined BJP in 2013. Earlier in 2005 and 2010, he contested and won the assembly elections on JDU ticket. Currently, he is a BJP MLA from Biharsharif. Jivesh Mishra, MLA from Jale assembly seat of Darbhanga, has taken oath as a minister. He has also been a minister in the Nitish cabinet earlier. Jivesh was the Labor Minister from November 2020 to August 2022.

Raju Kumar Singh, who started his political career with Lok Janshakti Party and is currently a BJP MLA from Sahebganj seat, has also joined the Nitish cabinet. He has taken oath as a minister. Along with this, Motilal Prasad, Krishna Kumar Mantu and Vijay Kumar Mandal have also taken oath as ministers.

On the Nitish cabinet expansion, RLM President Upendra Kushwaha said, the expansion of the Council of Ministers was already expected. When the entire council of ministers was formed, some seats were left vacant, which were from the BJP quota. On the same basis, expansion is happening today. There is nothing new in this. It is not that this happened suddenly. This was bound to happen. There is no restlessness. RJD people should control their restlessness.
