New Delhi: Pakistani Army Chief and Field Marshal Asim Munir is going to visit America once again. His visit to America will take place this month. This will be his second US visit within two months. This indicates the ever-deepening bilateral relations between America and Pakistan.
He is going to Washington to attend the farewell ceremony of US Army General and United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Michael Kurilla. Kurilla had described Pakistan as an excellent partner to deal with terrorism during his tenure.
Army General Kurilla, who led the US Army in the Middle East, is retiring at the end of this month. A few months ago, Kurilla had praised Pakistan for capturing five ISIS terrorists using American intelligence.
Kurilla had said at that time that Pakistan has been an excellent partner to deal with terrorism all over the world. Because of this, we need to strengthen relations with Pakistan and India.
Munir’s lunch with Trump became a global headline
Asim Munir went on a five-day tour of Pakistan in June this year. During this time, he also had lunch with US President Donald Trump. The meeting of both lasted for about two hours. Later, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said that President Trump called General Munir to meet because Munir had recommended Trump to give the Nobel Peace Prize for preventing a possible nuclear war between India and Pakistan.
Let us tell you that US President Donald Trump has announced to impose an additional tariff of 25 percent on India. Trump has imposed this additional tariff on India due to continuous purchase of crude oil at cheap prices from Russia since the Ukraine war. With this, America has now imposed a total tariff of 50 percent on India.
At the same time, America has recently signed an oil deal with Pakistan. Under this trade and energy agreement between the two countries, India will cooperate in developing Pakistan’s large oil reserves.
