PM Modi congratulated Team India on winning the Women’s World Cup, saying this victory will inspire future champions.

Mumbai. The Indian women’s cricket team has created history, defeating South Africa to win the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup for the first time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated India’s daughters on Team India’s historic victory. He said the Indian players performed brilliantly and this win will inspire future generations to excel in the sport.

PM Modi wrote, “A brilliant victory for the Indian team in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final. The final displayed excellent skill and immense confidence. The entire team displayed redoubled hard work and passion. This historic victory will inspire future champions. Congratulations to our players.”

President Draupadi Murmu’s Congratulations

President Draupadi Murmu also congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team on winning the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. She said that Indian women have created history by winning this title for the first time. The team played brilliantly throughout the tournament and today, through their talent and performance, has brought this great honor to the country. The President said that this historic moment will take women’s cricket to even greater heights. She is extremely proud of the spirit and achievement of the Indian players.

In the final played at the DY Patil Stadium, India batted first and set a target of 299 runs for South Africa. Shafali Verma scored 87 and Deepti Sharma scored a crucial 58. In reply, South Africa was bowled out for 246, and India won the match by 52 runs. Deepti Sharma displayed her bowling prowess, taking 5 wickets.

This victory is also special for India because in the 52-year history of the World Cup, the Indian women’s team reached the final for the third time, and this time, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, the team won the trophy. Rohit Sharma, who was present at the stadium, also looked emotional after this victory. The entire stadium echoed with the slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’.
