Noida: Following the unrest on Monday, employees of private companies in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, continued to take to the streets on Tuesday to press for their demands. During the protests, altercations and scuffles broke out between the demonstrators and the police, prompting the authorities to use mild force to bring the situation under control.
In the wake of the violent protests and acts of vandalism that occurred on Monday, the state government had announced a hike in the minimum wage late that night; however, the employees do not appear satisfied despite this measure. Amidst this ongoing turmoil, a new development has emerged: a fresh set of demands raised by domestic workers employed in local households.
Outside a housing society in Sector 121, Noida, a group of women suddenly began pelting stones. These domestic maids and cleaning staff—who work on a daily basis within the society—have launched protests demanding an increase in their wages. Laborers working within the society also engaged in extensive vandalism on the streets, footage of which is now surfacing online.
It is worth noting that, following the violent protests and incidents of arson involving workers in Noida, the Uttar Pradesh government had late Monday night announced an upward revision of minimum wage rates. The new orders regarding this interim wage hike are set to come into effect on April 1, 2026. Across various categories, the maximum wage increase amounts to approximately ₹3,000.
